About Dr. Mark Reichman

Dr. Mark Reichman, DDS, FCDS (BC) is a certified specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery in British Columbia with over 20 years of experience. He grew up in the suburbs of Toronto and studied neurosciences at the University of Toronto. He was always interested in the surgical side of dentistry, and his first work experience was an internship at Toronto General Hospital. He went on to receive his doctorate in dental surgery in 1989. Mark then decided to sharpen his focus even more with an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas in Dallas. He trained in Southwestern Medical School in Parkland Hospital for the next four years and then he returned to Vancouver to launch his career.

Mark now uses his license to practice dentistry in a number of ways. He was an assistant clinical professor at the University of British Columbia for eighteen years, serving in the faculty of dentistry within the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He bought a private practice, the Oral and Facial Surgery Center in Vancouver, where he continues to work to this day as one of the most prominent oral surgeons in the area.

He also operates out of multiple hospitals, both general and specialized. He previously served as the Head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital. Now, he is the Head of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at British Columbia’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital, where he has a special focus on the cleft lip and palate/ craniofacial program. He is the only active surgeon in the program, and he continues to research the latest updates in the field.

Because Mark specializes in oral surgeries in young children and infants, he puts a lot of emphasis on education. He believes that being well-informed is the ultimate way to combat the anxiety that patients often feel about dental procedures. He does this through free online tips and advice as well as in-person consulting about patients’ preparation, surgery, and recovery.

Mark is passionate about helping people through life-changing surgical procedures, especially through facial reconstruction and orthognathic surgery. He uses his extensive experience, both in academia and on-site in various hospitals and his private practice, to offer the best surgical solutions to complex oral and maxillofacial issues. He and his staff offer services such as dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting, biopsies, cyst removals, and facial cosmetic surgeries.
